McDowell Valley

McDowell Valley Vineyards is the only winery found within the McDowell Valley AVA, which sits at 1,000 feet above sea level. The surrounding mountains allow McDowell Valley to remain warm when other AVAs are facing spring frosts, although the Valley is cooler than most California appellations throughout the summer. Rhône varietals Grenache, Syrah, Marsanne and Viognier are planted McDowell's gravelly loam soil.
