Northern Sonoma
Northern Sonoma was created by the mega-wine producer Gallo Sonoma for the strict purpose of having an AVA that was more specific than the greater Sonoma County appellation this area is found within. The AVA encompasses the subappellations Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, Dry Creek Valley, Green Valley, Knights Valley and Russian River Valley.
