Wine RSS Feeds for All

By Ryan Snyder on 7.4.2007

We just rolled out the new Winegeeks 2 months ago, and are eager to continue our commitment to providing upgrades to the site. Our newest feature provides RSS news feeds for every user, which means that each user has a separate RSS feed for his or her contributions to the site. When you visit a user's profile page you will find RSS feeds for his or her wine reviews, wine photos, wine cellar, wine wishlist and article comments.

There are a couple of ways that you can use these RSS feeds. The first is to subscribe to any of your favorite Winegeeks users feeds so that you know when they add new content to the site. For example, I use Google Reader as my primary RSS feed reader. I subscribed to E. S. Brown's wine reviews RSS feed so that I can see all of his latest wine reviews on the site. I respect his opinions and appreciate the same wine styles that he does, so I know that when he posts a great review of a wine that I will like it too (and will need to add it to My Wine Wishlist).

Secondly if you run a personal blog or a wine blog, you may include your Winegeeks RSS feeds in your blog. It's an easy way to syndicate content on your site! Add your wine reviews so that your friends can see what's got your taste buds a-tingling lately, or add your wine wishlist so that your family knows what to slip into your stocking this Christmas.

To subscribe to a user's RSS feed, visit that user's profile page and click the RSS Feed Icon ( ) next to the user's stats. You can left-click to subscribe through your browser, or you can right-click, hit Copy Link Location and copy the web address into your favorite RSS reader.

You can get started know by subscribing to my wine reviews RSS feed:

Finally, we've added the ability to search through any user's My Cellar or My Wishlist through his or her profile page. Now, obviously not everybody wants to put their cellar contents on display, especially if there's a '61 Latour or an '82 Petrus just hanging out down there. So we've also added the ability to make both your cellar and your wishlist unviewable by the general public. Just visit your Preferences page and update your cellar display and wishlist display preferences.

Enjoy the new features!

Geek out,
Ryan
