A common white grape in Chile, the Sauvignon Vert is actually the Tocai Friulano that is widely grown in the northern reaches of Italy. Not thought to be related to Sauvignon Blanc, wine produced from this varietal has a dense yellow color, low to medium acidity and aromas and flavors that range from golden apples to walnuts. Vines in California that are called Sauvignon Vert are thought to be a variation of the Muscadelle from Bordeaux. Also known as Sauvignonasse.
