Winemaker Eric DunhamÂ's career began at Hogue Cellars and continued at L'Ecole No. 41, where he was the assistant winemaker. In 1995, he was given space at LÂ'Ecole and a few barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon, with which he began bottling under the name of Dunham Cellars. In the spring of 1999, Eric and his parents, Mike and Joanne Dunham, opened the doors to their new winery, which is located in a refurbished World War II airplane hangar just east of the Walla Walla Airport.
Dunham Cellars purchases all their grapes from hand-selected growers in the Walla Walla and Columbia Valley appellations. They are known primarily for their red Bordeaux blends, including their Cabernet Sauvignon, which is given a roman numeral for each year it is made, beginning with Â"IÂ", which was EricÂ's first release back in 1995. Dunham also produces Syrah, a late harvest Sémillon, and has recently delved into the world of Chardonnay and rosé.
