Mount Harlan

Currently the home to only one winery, Calera Wine Company, the Mount Harlan AVA was founded by Calera's owner Josh Jensen. 100 acres of vines are planted on the 7,400 acre appellation, which has an altitude of between 1800 feet and 2200 feet. The climate is cool and arid, and the soil consists of limestone deposits, one of the few places in California where limestone is found. Pinot Noir is the focus of the area, while Chardonnay and Viognier make up the remaining vines.
