Situated just to the east of the Alexander Valley AVA, Knights Valley sits above the fogline, keeping the cool Pacific fogs from shrouding its grapes. The warm days and volcanic soils make Knights Valley the proud home of many Cabernet Sauvignon-producing vines. It's warmer than Dry Creek Valley but cooler than Alexander Valley and well known for producing fruit forward Cabs, although Beringer is one of the few producers that uses the Knights Valley name on their labels. The remaining Bordeaux varietals are all well represented here, including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petite Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc.
