The Red Mountain AVA is situated within the Yakima Valley and Columbia Valley AVAs of southern Washington state. The land is gently sloped, which provides the sandy loam soil with excellent drainage. Red Mountain is small enough to be called teeny-tiny, with only 4,040 acres and 10 wineries to its name. Known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Red Mountain's late harvest whites are also making a name for themselves.
