Cloudy Bay Vineyards takes its name after the bay at the eastern extremity of the island, which was named by Captain Cook in his first visit to New Zealand. Situated in Marlborough, Cape Mentelle establised the Cloudy Bay Vineyards winery in 1985, which today is part of the Moet Hennessy Wine Estates.
Today, Cloudy Bay produces many different grapes for its wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with lesser quantities of Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Cloudy Bay farms 140 hectares of vines from 3 different sites, with an average annual crush is 1200 tonnes.
