Isenhower Cellars

Isenhower Cellars is owned by Brett and Denise Isenhower, and can be found just south of the town of Walla Walla in southeastern Washington. The Isenhowers are originally from Indiana, where Brett graduated from Purdue University and Denise graduated from Butler University with degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Brett obtained an MBA from Colorado University and shortly thereafter the Isenhowers moved to Walla Walla where they founded Isenhower Cellars in 1999.

They purchase grapes from growers in Yakima Valley, Red Mountain, Walla Walla Valley and Horse Heaven Hills. Brett works with farmers throughout the growing season, and consults with them to make decisions about pruning, vine cropping, how many clusters to keep on the vine and when to harvest the grapes. They plan to own their own vineyards eventually, but would rather take one step at a time.

Isenhower Cellars currently produces red Bordeaux blends, a lineup of Syrahs and Snapdragon, a blend of Roussanne and Viognier. In the future, Brett will continue to experiment with various Rhône varietals, and if our hunch is correct, biodynamic winemaking as well.

Isenhower Cellars was featured as the Producer of the Month in July, 2006.
