esbrown reviewed Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino White Label 2001 on September 27, 2006 Shimmering garnet and purple color. This is the more traditional of the two non-reserve bottlings from Poggio Antico, and it has a fantastic aroma. Tobacco, espresso roast, lots of violet perfume, caramel, sweet spices and plenty of deep dark fruit aromas. The palate is juicy and rich with lots of dark fruit, espresso, dust and almost salty spices. Long and lush on the finish, with enough tannin to age for a long time. Well made. |
