esbrown reviewed Grgich Hills Napa Valley Fumé Blanc 2004 on November 28, 2005 Structured and intense for a Sauvignon Blanc, with ripe mango, lime zest and a certain minerality on the nose, followed by a palate plush with lemon curd, quince, fig and acidity. Supple and rich, yet zesty and crisp on the finish, my only complaint with this wine was the latent heat created by high levels of alcohol. This was not enough for me to call this wine unenjoyable, but it was enough to keep it from being great. |
