esbrown reviewed Grgich Hills Napa Valley Chardonnay 2002 on November 30, 2005 Lovely and golden in color, with a nice shimmer on the surface. The aromas are a melange of pears, kiwi fruit and lime zest. One can almost smell the acidity. The flavors are frsh and bright, with more of the lime, but also a touch of red delicious apple, tropical fruits and an almost Chenin-like honeysuckle blossom, honey and almond characteristic. The finish is long and slightly oaky, but there is enough acidity to keep the wine from feeling bogged down or plodding. Could use some time, but pretty good now. |
