esbrown reviewed Trefethen Oak Knoll Estate Merlot 2001 on December 30, 2005 A silky smooth wine from top to bottom. Smoky and deep on the nose with mocha, juicy black fruits and a roasted quality that reminds me of gravel rocks on a hot summer day. On the palate the wine is soft and smooth, with elements of sweet black raspberries, oak and milk chocolate. Balanced acidity and chewy tannins round out a nice wine. Only a slightly raisiny note kept it from being more highly rated. |
