midi13579 reviewed Luna Napa Valley 2007 on April 14, 2011

The deep blackberry color carries through on the nose, mingled with blueberries and anise. On the palate, there are more black fruits and graphite combined with a lush, velvety texture. The bright fruit flavors complement dusty tannins on the finish, like fine dark chocolate sprinkled with raspberries. Our 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a great deal of finesse, and we can expect it to be at its peak from 2017 through 2021.

The color is a deep dark red. On the nose, the wine shows fragrant scents of praline and dark chocolate immediately conveyed, followed by blackberry, powdered violet & lavender (talc). Beneath, fresh green tobacco and lively spices, cold meats / pan juices fuse together. The result: a youthful, benchmark St Henri aromatic package. The entry on the mouth shows a medium-bodied and relatively 'elegant' feel. A palate stand-off / divide - Kirsch and dark fruits versus pomegranate / cranberry & dessicated Chinese plums.

Blended of 89% Shiraz and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 St Henri Shiraz is a blend of 5 different South Australia sub-regions spanning from Robe to Clare Valley. Never seeing new oak, this vintage was aged 15 months in seasoned 1460 liter vats. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it has a purely fruited nose giving notes of intense cassis, crushed blackberries, some kirsch, black pepper, baking spices and cloves. Full, rich and concentrated, it’s still a bit taut with very crisp acid and firm finely textured tannins, giving a long berry laced finish. Consider drinking it from 2013 to 2025

The finished wine shows ultra-ripe character of Black tea, blackberry jam, anise, cedar, and a touch of milk chocolate. At first taste, the warm berry flavors are most apparent, with more savory cedar/tobacco/mocha notes supporting the fruit in the mid-palate. Consistent with the character often found in steep, rocky hillsides, the structure of the wine is dense and firm with tremendous flavor concentration, yet shows fully ripe tannins that gracefully yield to a lingering finish of sweet black fruits. of this wine.

The finished wine is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot; 100% Estate-grown, and aged in 90% new French oak barrels. 1060 cases were bottled on July 8, 2008.

"Shows black licorice, black pepper and berries on the nose. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and ripe, chewy tannins, but in balance. This has very stylish flavors. Should be nice to drink soon. Always excellent value. Best after 2012"
A blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
It is a wine with expressive fruit, an opulent nose of red berries, roundness on the palate, with good length and a harmonious and elegant finish. Chateau Pipeau is very delightful when young but it also has all the qualities for laying-down of a really great Saint-Emilion.
