A Pinot Noir - Cab Franc blend from New York that acts kinda like a Beaujolais. Fruit forward with lots of cherry and hints of smoke on the finish.

Very nice cab. Hints of chocolate, ripe blackberries and black currant, smoke, and a little oak. Fairly rich and nicely balanced. Good with strong or smoky cheeses, ribs, or a grilled steak. Very good value for 15 bucks.

Yum. Big ripe, bright, juicy berry flavors. Very soft with light tannins which are well integrated with the fruit, showing a surprising complexity as it opened up during a couple hours of sipping. Just had cheese and crackers, but this would be a great wine with smoked meats or barbeque. Delicious.

I agree with winegeeks on this one. For a change. A nice simple wine. Not really very food-worthy, but a nice easy drinking glass of red wine. A bit overpriced for my buck.

A delicious Zin. Typical for St. Francis, who I think has been making really nice Zins for several years. Rich is the key word. Spicey, jammy, and quite complex. Still on its way up the hill, I think it will improve for a few years. See the 1996. I think Winegeeks underrated this one, it's a 7.0 minimum.

I had this wine at a dinner with the 01' vintage Old Vines St. Francis Zin, the 94 Topolos Piner Heights Zin, and the 95 Topolos Pagani Ranch Zin. This one was my favorite. Still at the top of the hill, it was rich, complex, and spicey, with very well integrated tannin and fruit. This will still be good for a while and is probably a good indication of where the 2001 is heading.

O.K. I actually drank this wine with baroloman at a dinner. It was drinking very nicely. Still had some tannnins left, good color and depth for a ten year old Zin. But I don't care for the distinctive minty, eucalyptus flavors. They were a bit too much for me, but fans of Heitz Martha's Cab, and some of the Joseph Phelps cabs would like this wine.

I thought this wine was really hangin well for a 1994 organically made Zin. Found out it was the first Zin served at a White House state dinner. It's definetly past its prime, but still drinking nicely, with good color and balance and showing some depth. Probably would have rated it higher a few years ago, but for its age it was still excellent.

This is my current favorite "house" red wine. Classic Zin, spicey and jammy with great bang for the buck at $12. Pizza, BBQ, sharp cheeses, or just by itself.

I can't believe that ALL FOUR experts on your tasting panel consider this an unpleasant wine. Where'd they get their sommelier certificates, WalMart? I didn't think this was a great wine, but pleasant at the least if not a good rating.

Pretty good for a merlot, which isn't my favorite. Rich and jammy, with a pretty good backbone. Thought it was a little better than a 5.7.

winehunter

5.7! are you kidding? I thought this was an excellent example of a California S.B. Classic flavors of citrus and grass with a nice acid crispness in a well-balanced wine.

winehunter

Pretty good Zin. Rich and fruit forward with a nice very lightly spicy berry flavor. Good with cheeses but was a bit overpowered with the smoked barbecue ribs.

winehunter

Decent cabernet fruit flavors. Soft with a nice finish. I think you can find a cab as good for ten bucks.

A great quaff. This barrel aged wine is very light in color yet rich in flavor. Definite notes of pinot noir and maybe baco noir. Very fruitful but not the least bit sweet. Great by itself or with mild cheeses, pizza, or roasted chicken. Great bang for buck.

Fairly nice merlot, a wine that I'm not a huge fan of. Rich, soft, and kind of smokey.

winehunter

Classic cabernet flavors. Not a spectacular wine by any means but pretty solid. Good cab for under $20.

If you like Nouveau Beaujolais you'll like this wine. Light and fruity but dry. Would be good with any lighter fare or by itself. I drank at room temperature but it would be a great picnic wine slightly chilled.

I don't normally care much for Australian Shiraz's but this one was an exception. It was yummy, luscious, and full of fruit - almost port like in intensity without the sweetness. Would be great with ribs or smoky barbecue.

winehunter

I think this Pinot has great bang for the buck. Its light body makes it easy drinking, and it has that classic Pinot Noir flavor of dusty, cherry fruit.

winehunter

This was light, crisp, fresh, and fruity, which you'd expect from a wine this young. Drank as an aperitif and quite enjoyed it.

winehunter

I agree with the winegeeks review. I thought this was a very good wine and a very good value. I've spent more on lesser wines for sure.

winehunter

Rich and complex, with good up front cherry and blackberry fruit but also with firm tannins. I thought this was a very good example of a cabernet. Great with steaks or barbecue.

A tasty red blend with cherry fruit and undertones of coffee and leather. Fairly complex and well-balanced. Especially good during the full lunar eclipse.

Tastes like an an Italian Pinot grigio with hints of toasted almonds and a bit of oak, but a little richer, fruitier, and fuller bodied than most Italian P.G.'s. Not as austere. Excellent.

The treasure of the Sierra Madre! I love this wine. It has intense and rich flavors of dried cherry, plum, and a rich earthiness reminiscent of being in a forest. Would compliment any rich foods. Highly recommended.
